In plain terms: Soctz lets you read and react to opinions without an account.
Creating an account needs an email, a password, and a username. What you post — your
opinions, comments, and poll votes — is public by design, because Soctz is a place for
public discourse. We don't sell your data or run advertising trackers.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Soctz app (soctz.com) and this website (soctz.info), both
operated by Choppa Venu Technologies (One Person Company), founded
11 April 2024, based in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India ("Soctz," "we," "us").
2. Information we collect
If you're just reading (a guest):
- A random identifier is generated and stored on your own device (in your browser's
local storage) so your likes, agrees, disagrees, and poll votes can be counted once each
per post. It isn't linked to your name, email, or any other personal information, and we
can't trace it back to you.
If you create an account:
- Email address and password — used only to sign you in. Passwords are
handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us in plain text.
- Username and display name — shown publicly next to anything you post.
- Content you submit — opinions, comments, and poll votes. All of this is
public by default; there's no private-posting mode.
Automatically, for everyone:
- Basic usage data — for example, a view is counted when a post is shown on screen, and
timestamps are recorded for posts, comments, and reactions.
3. How we use this information
- To operate the core features of Soctz — showing posts, recording reactions and poll
votes, and running discussion threads.
- To send account-related emails (like confirming a new signup).
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it to third parties.
4. The public nature of Soctz
Soctz is built around public opinion. Anything you post — including your username, display
name, and the content itself — is visible to anyone using the app, signed in or not. Please
don't post anything you wouldn't want to be public, including in a comment thread.
5. Services we rely on
Soctz is built on a small number of third-party infrastructure providers, each handling a specific job:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles account authentication.
- Resend — delivers account-related emails (such as signup confirmation).
- Vercel — hosts this website and the Soctz web app.
Each of these providers processes data on our behalf under their own security and privacy
practices; we don't share your information with anyone beyond what's needed to run the
service through them.
6. Cookies & local storage
Soctz uses your browser's local storage — not tracking cookies — to keep you signed in and
to store the guest identifier described in Section 2. We don't use third-party advertising
or analytics trackers.
7. Data retention & deletion
- You can edit or delete any post you've made at any time from your Dashboard in the app.
- You can update your display name and username from your profile at any time.
- To delete your account entirely, email
info@choppavenutechnologies.com from
the address on your account and we'll process the request. (Self-service account deletion
inside the app is on our roadmap but isn't available yet.)
8. Children's privacy
Soctz is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from
children under that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and
we'll remove it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard practices (including row-level access controls on our database) to
protect your information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Use a
unique password for your Soctz account.
10. Your rights
You can access and correct your account information at any time through the app itself
(display name, username), and request deletion of your account and associated data by
contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law —
contact us and we'll do our best to help.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of
Soctz after a change means you accept the updated policy.
12. Contact us
This policy is written to be genuinely accurate about how Soctz currently works, but it's a
general description, not a substitute for legal advice. If you're relying on this for
regulatory compliance (GDPR, India's DPDP Act, or otherwise), have it reviewed by a
qualified lawyer before treating it as final.
